This is the traditional salt used for seasoning in Hawaii. It is all-natural and rich in trace elements from seawater. It has been used for centuries in many traditional Hawaiian ceremonies. Valuable minerals enrich the salt, making it even healthier. It is milder than most table salts and goes well with soups and sauces. Alaea is excellent for grilling meat – red clay retains moisture and adds flavor. Mix the coarse salt with herbs and use it as a seasoning mix. Alaea salt is a red salt found exclusively in the Aloha Islands in the Pacific and has been used by the native Hawaiians for centuries. This unique sea salt is found between rare layers of lava rock in the sea. The name of this salt is derived from the red Alaea clay with which it is mixed. This clay not only gives the salt its stunning, extraordinary red hue.
